Why Ward 5 Needs You This Election Season

The election that shapes your neighbourhood

Every four years, Ward 5 residents have the chance to choose who represents them at Kitchener City Hall. It's easy to think of municipal politics as distant or abstract — but the decisions made in that council chamber affect your street, your park, your commute, and your property taxes.

The 2026 municipal election is on October 26. And the outcome in Ward 5 will depend on who shows up.

What's at stake in Ward 5

Ward 5 is a community in transition. New development is changing the character of our neighbourhoods. Traffic and road safety are real concerns for families. The cost of city services keeps rising — and residents deserve a councillor who asks hard questions about where that money goes.

I'm running because I believe Ward 5 deserves better. My platform is built on four priorities:

Fiscal responsibility — Scrutinizing the city budget, pushing back on unnecessary spending, and making sure taxpayers get value for every dollar.

Managed growth and housing — Supporting thoughtful development that fits our community, not just density for density's sake.

Neighbourhood safety and traffic calming — Addressing the speeding, cut-through traffic, and pedestrian safety issues that Ward 5 residents raise with me every week.

Community connection and recreation — Investing in the parks, programs, and spaces that bring Ward 5 together.

Why your involvement makes the difference

Municipal elections are decided by small margins. In a ward like ours, a few hundred votes — sometimes fewer — can determine the outcome. That means every conversation you have with a neighbour, every lawn sign you put up, every door you knock on, genuinely matters.

This isn't a race where name recognition and advertising budgets decide everything. It's a race where community relationships and grassroots effort win.
